Dressing the Gents, Part One: Inspiration

Staying in the theme of figuring out how to dress everyone else for this party except for me, I decided to spend some time last week focusing on the boys. When the fiance and I discussed early on what his groomsmen would be wearing, we decided it would be easiest to go for the classic black tux and white shirt combo. Since two of his groomsmen live in Southern California and another lives in Colorado, it's just going to be easiest to select the tux/shirt styles from The Men's Wearhouse so that everyone can pick them up at a store near them.

I knew right away that I didn't want the guys to go for the bow tie look, so I began my hunt for the perfect tie for the fiance. After selecting two different ties in the $100+ range from Nordstrom, I stumbled upon this woven silk tie in the perfect shade of olive green on Amazon. The best part? I scored this awesome find for a mere $19.99 (plus shipping):

It couldn't be more perfect! It's a great shade of olive green with brown and ivory stripes. It also got the high-fashion "thumbs up" from the men in my office, so I'm pleased about that.

With the fiance's look well underway, I shifted my focus to the groomsmen, as well as my brother and uncle, who will also be involved in the wedding ceremony (more on that later). I wanted the fiance to stand out with his striped tie, so I was thinking that the groomsmen should wear solid yellow ties. I was a little worried that the black/yellow combo would be too bumblebee-esque until I saw this amazing inspiration board from one of my favorite blogs, The Perfect Palette:

Seriously, how cool does that groom look in his black tux and yellow/black striped tie? I also stumbled upon this image:

And this one:

These guys look so great! I think I'm going to love the groomsmen's solid yellow ties in contrast to the fiance's striped, green one. I will definitely be stopping by Macy's in Union Square this week to check out their selection of solid yellow ties.

Finally, for my brother and uncle, who will be part of the ceremony but not standing next to the fiance and I throughout it's duration, I'm thinking something like this:

If I had mad computer skillz like some of the other bloggers out there, I would make an awesome inspiration board to combine these looks. Alas, I am not gifted in this regard, so the blog entry will have to do! I'm excited to see the look come together. I can't wait to go to Macy's and check out their tie selection!

Great ideas, and great deal on that tie! We are still figuring out how to differentiate the groomsmen from the groom.

We are probably going to go with the Men's Wearhouse too since the groomsmen live in CA and FL. I love yellow. :) So happy!
